One little note on Burdock. Do not put it in your garden!!! It's a wonderful plant, and also very apt to take over. It's velcro like seed pods travel. If you pull up the root, every little bit that breaks off turns into another plant. Trust me, put it far, far away from your garden. Same with Comfry or mint!

Ginseng is a whole 'nother story, and it takes about 10 years to truly benefit from a Ginseng crop. Also, there are many considerations in Ginseng planting and farming. Here is a page that tells the story:

a good place to look for information and seed for endangered plants is united plant savers. it is a non-profit organization that is geared towards perserving plants and the places they grow in... they would definately have information on where to get seeds.

good luck!

Awesome page, thank you! Since it's getting colder and I am inside more, I keep thinking about spring and some new medicinal plants that I can grow in my herb garden. Chamomile is definately one that I have been needing and have yet to grow!

I have a question though.....I keep hearing things about Echinacea and Ginseng becoming somewhat extinct in the wild. What is the best way to go about finding seeds/starts for these plants so we can grow them at home?
