Fri, February 13, 2009 - 9:32 AMPapaver somniferum, cannabis sativa, dandelion, sour grass, and these awesome red pods that grow from this rose bush/vine creature in my front yard. I wish I knew the name, can't find it on google.
Oh my god and I love prickly pears. Does that count?
Whenever I find them I just light them on fire and make a purple mess.

Re: Favorite edible flower
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 10:41 AMmmmmm the violets are still going crazy in my garden right now...bummer I don't have the impetus to candy them this year!
rose petals for sure yum, and the hips too.
all the flowers from any of my culinary herbs, like rosemary, thyme, chinese chives, etc...tossed into salads, or topping rice.
I like to suck the nectar from honeysuckle flowers & Trachelospermum jasminoides, and some others, but I don't eat the flowers.
what do you do with clover flowers, Gypsi Star? batter and fry them? -

Re: Favorite edible flower
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 11:57 AMI eat the clover flowers raw in salads or stand alone. They're very sweet.. I like the wild mustard flowers too. There's so many things in the woods I love to eat, I'm waiting patiently for spring.
Will go out sometime soon and check on the new growth of the larch trees (western tamarack) to see if any of the needles are growing.. they're wonderful.. they taste green.. lol
Right now we have too much snow on the ground to go out in the woods.. its all icy. so is trecherous right now.. But.......spring is in the air and right around the corner.. :) -
