i myself find them to be a fall/ holiday treat to
be eaten a few times a year, i freeze them for
breads and cookies and whatnot.

I'd bet you could get one to grow in a large pot so long as the air isn't
too dry.
There are smaller more delicate species from Florida that
may work better in a pot.
