This may be a little off topic... but wondering if anyone has any insight.....I teach BellyDance and this came up yesterday:
Yesterday in class.... My class and I were working on a move on the balls of our feet..... This is in my advanced class and I do warm peeps up and part of warm ups usually include either yoga balancing or a little ballet ..... I like to dance on the balls of my feet and want my students to be comfortable....
Anyhoo One of my students mentioned the nerves in her feet hurt when she is on the balls..... And I am wondering if anyone may have any advice at all....
She is very overweight and does have some health issues tho not too bad but just wanted to give that in....
All I could think was to recommend to her simply practicing becoming used to being on the balls of her feet and really work to engage her core / posture...... However she did mention the nerves in her feet hurt.... Any ideas out there

  • Three things that would be helpful from an herbal perspective:
    1. drinking oatsraw infusions (strengthens the nervous system)
2, regularly soak her feet in chamomile food bath (relaxes the feet and overall nervous system)
    3. rub St Johnswort Oil on her feet (St. Johnswort is a nervine)

And of course keep moving her body, but encourage her to stop if she is in pain...not to push through it. Be sure she pays attention to her body!

    • sounds like gouty arthritus to me, gout is called the kings disease as it punishes those with a rich diet, ask her what ratio fruits and veggies to meat, if she eats more than 40% meat, is overweight and might like wine or beer she has gout. imagine a honda civic sized engine trying to pull a big rig trailor, thats what happens to your kidneys and liver when you add extra weight to your body, once the filters are overloaded they let uric acid get through (caused by eating purines) and once you have higher levels of uric acid it deposits the furthest from your heart, in the feet. search gout on google for more info but i just got this 6 months ago so i eat anything but meat, quit drinking soda, beer, wine and any juice thats not 100% juice and started drinking alot more water. i allready lost 30 pounds and am feelling better but have a long road ahead, good luck!
