Re: mugwort
Mon, August 4, 2008 - 6:32 PMsomeone once told me that rubbing mugwort on your skin in any area that touched poison oak would counteract the effects of the poison oak, some sort of acid vs. base deal, I wonder if there was truth in that? -

Re: mugwort
Wed, April 15, 2009 - 9:29 PMIt works really well if you use the fresh plant...wipe yourself and all your stuff down with a few sprigs and it neutralizes poison oak. We have been doing this for 20 years. I make a soap (dried mugwort mixed in) and a cream (brandy soaked mugwort). I add sand & clay to the soap and in my cream I use homeopathic rhus diversiloba as well as clay, grapeseed oil (to saturate skin with oils before going in poison oak territory) and essential oils. They both work great to stop the itch, eliminate the rash and neutralize the oil of poison oak. www.libertybotanicals.com

Re: mugwort
Mon, August 4, 2008 - 8:08 PMThis species grows all along the west coast. It is not a species that you can typically find commercially, most of what you will buy will be Artemesia vulgaris. Not sure where you live, but you will want to harvest it or find someone who lives on the west coast who will harvest it for you. I imported this species to Wisconsin and it over wintered fine. The main difficulty is that the Artemesia vulgaris is crowding out the douglasiana...it is much more vigirous in it's growing habits.

Re: mugwort
Fri, July 25, 2008 - 3:36 PMI don't know how the store are where you live, but in seattle you can go to uwajimaya (asian grocery store) and they sell mugwort tea. I drank too much once and became really dizzy. But in the right amounts, mixed with damiana and passionflower, it makes a nice dream tea.
