Paw Paws are ripe!

J. Tue, September 8, 2009 - 5:34 PM by J.

here in the mid south and southeast, and everything else east of the Mississippi, our paw paw trees are hanging with
perfectly ripened fruit, please research and locate some of these, or grow a paw paw tree if they aren't in your area, they're
freaking delicious. yum!

They are very musky and fragrant, not everyone likes them,
i myself find them to be a fall/ holiday treat to
be eaten a few times a year, i freeze them for
breads and cookies and whatnot.

I've been looking for types to grow in Utah. So far though, the size is a deterrent for my yard.

All of them require deep moist loamy soil and high humidity year round,
I'd bet you could get one to grow in a large pot so long as the air isn't
too dry.
There are smaller more delicate species from Florida that
may work better in a pot.
